Meet Anthony
Canine Behaviourist, Author & Educator
Founder of Oxford Dog Training Company and author of Reactive to Regulated.
For more than a decade, Anthony has worked professionally with dogs and their owners, helping them understand behaviour, overcome challenges and build calmer, happier lives together.
His work combines behavioural science with extensive hands-on experience, continued study and international professional development.
Understanding the dog behind the behaviour
Anthony’s approach is built around a simple idea: behaviour makes more sense when we understand the state of the dog producing it.
Rather than focusing only on stopping unwanted behaviours, his work considers the dog’s emotional state, regulation, environment, learning and previous experience.
This means asking not only:
but:
“Why is this behaviour happening in the first place?”
That thinking has developed through more than 15,000 hours of hands-on experience with over 1,000 dogs, across different breeds, ages and behavioural challenges.
It also forms the basis of Anthony’s Calm Dog Framework — a practical model for understanding how a dog’s underlying state influences the behaviours and choices we see.

Experience shaped by curiosity
Anthony’s route into canine behaviour began with an academic background in Physics, something that continues to influence the way he approaches dogs today: observe carefully, question assumptions and look for the processes underlying what we can see.
Alongside formal canine behaviour qualifications, his professional development has included extensive practical experience and opportunities to learn from and work alongside internationally recognised practitioners.
These have included Dr Ian Dunbar, Cesar Millan, Cheri Wulff-Lucas and Katrin Scholz, alongside continued independent study and professional development in the UK and overseas.

Author of Reactive to Regulated
Anthony is the author of Reactive to Regulated: A Calm, Clear and Controlled Approach to Dog Reactivity.
Drawing on behavioural science and years of practical experience, the book explores why reactive behaviour happens and how moving the focus from simply controlling behaviour towards emotional regulation can create meaningful change.
Anthony is also the author of The Nerdy Book of Dog Facts.
Anthony also works with other canine professionals through professional mentorship, practical training and education.
His emphasis is on developing understanding and judgement rather than simply teaching techniques — helping professionals become better at reading dogs, thinking critically about behaviour and making appropriate decisions for the individual animal.
In the Media
Anthony’s work and expertise have been featured in media in the UK and internationally, contributing insight into canine behaviour, training and the relationship between people and their dogs.
