Why Mentor With Anthony?

Working with dogs is deeply rewarding, and deceptively complex. Whether you’re a trainer, veterinary professional, kennel staff member, dog walker, or an owner who wants to truly understand their dog, canine behaviour can feel crowded with conflicting advice and competing theories.

Mentorship with me exists for one reason: to help you see dogs clearly, make confident decisions, and develop calm authority in any situation.

Real-World Experience, Not Just Theory

I’ve worked hands-on with thousands of dogs over tens of thousands of hours, including cases involving fear, aggression, reactivity, anxiety, and other challenging behaviours many professionals avoid.

This mentorship isn’t about rigid protocols or loyalty to a single “method.” It’s about learning how to:

  • Read dogs accurately in real time

  • Understand emotional state, not just outward behaviour

  • Make clear decisions under pressure

  • Adapt your approach to this dog, in this moment

We focus on what actually works — in homes, clinics, kennels, rescues, and real-world environments where theory alone isn’t enough.

Alongside my hands-on work, I write and publish about canine behaviour. I’m the author of The Nerdy Book of Dog Facts (2025), currently writing my second book on canine reactivity, and my work has been featured in international publications including The Good Men Project, Pet-Liberty and USA Wire. The full list of my featured publications can be found here.

An Integrated Perspective

I’ve studied and worked with some of the most influential figures in the dog world, including Cesar Millan, Cheri Wulff-Lucas, Dr Ian Dunbar, and Katrin Scholz, alongside formal academic study in animal behaviour and welfare.

This has given me a rare perspective: most approaches are partially right, but no single one tells the full story.

As a mentor, I help you understand:

  • why different methods work

  • where they fall short

  • how to integrate the best of each into a coherent, ethical, practical framework

One that fits the dogs and the people you work with.

Clarity Over Dogma

Many people know the theory, but still hesitate when it matters.

Mentorship with me helps you:

  • Develop a clear, reliable framework for understanding behaviour

  • Apply learning, emotional, and neurological principles in practice

  • Avoid dogma while maintaining ethical clarity

  • Build trust and calm authority with every dog you interact with

No matter your role, this mentorship is about seeing dogs clearly, deciding confidently, and standing calmly in that decision.
