Master the Calm Walk

Small Group Behaviour Classes in Oxfordshire

Helping your dog become calmer, more confident and emotionally regulated around other dogs, people and everyday distractions. Walking your dog shouldn’t feel stressful.

Whether your dog pulls on the lead, becomes over-excited around other dogs, struggles to focus outdoors or simply finds the world a little overwhelming, our Master the Calm Walk classes are designed to help.

Rather than simply teaching obedience exercises, these classes are built around The Calm Dog Framework, helping dogs learn to stay emotionally regulated in real-world situations.

Every exercise has a purpose. Every class builds confidence. Every session moves you one step closer to calmer, happier walks.

Why These Classes Are Different

Most group classes focus on teaching dogs what to do. We focus on helping dogs learn how to feel.
A dog that can stay emotionally regulated is able to think more clearly, make better decisions and respond more reliably, even in challenging environments.
Throughout the course you’ll practise carefully selected exercises that improve:

  • Calmness around other dogs
  • Emotional regulation
  • Lead walking skills
  • Engagement with the owner
  • Confidence
  • Recovery after excitement
  • Focus around distractions
  • Neutrality in busy environments

Rather than simply creating obedient dogs, our goal is to create dogs that feel calmer and more comfortable in everyday life.

Small Classes. Personal Coaching.

Every class is limited to just six dogs. This isn’t because we couldn’t fit more dogs in. It’s because six is the ideal balance.

Your dog benefits from working around other dogs in a safe, controlled environment, creating valuable opportunities to practise calm behaviour and emotional regulation.

At the same time, the small class size allows Anthony to spend meaningful one-to-one time with every owner throughout the session.

You’ll receive individual guidance, personalised feedback and practical advice that’s specific to your dog. It’s the best of both worlds. A supportive group environment with individual coaching built into every class.

A Rolling Syllabus That Works Around You

Life gets busy. Dogs get ill. Families go on holiday. That’s why our classes don’t follow a traditional six or eight-week programme. Instead, we run a carefully planned rolling syllabus.

Each session introduces different exercises and scenarios that develop calmness, confidence and emotional resilience.

You can join at any point, attend as often as you like, and continue building your dog’s skills over time without worrying about missing an important lesson.

Every class provides valuable learning opportunities, whether it’s your first session or your fiftieth.

Who Are These Classes For?

These classes are ideal for dogs who:

  • Pull on the lead.
  • Become over-excited during walks.
  • Bark or lunge through frustration.
  • Find other dogs distracting or overwhelming.
  • Need help focusing outside.
  • Lack confidence in busy environments.
  • Already know the basics but struggle to apply them in real life.
  • Would benefit from regular, structured practice around other dogs.

Whether your dog is young, adult or simply needs a little extra support, the classes are designed to meet them where they are.

More Than Just Walking Nicely

Walking politely on a loose lead is important. When dogs feel calmer, recover more quickly and learn how to regulate their emotions, many other behaviours begin to improve too.

That’s why our classes focus on developing the whole dog, not just teaching another command.

Our aim is to help create dogs that are calmer at home, more enjoyable to walk and better equipped to cope with the everyday world.

Learn From an Experienced Behaviour Professional

Every class is personally led by Anthony. Over the past decade he has worked with over a thousand dogs, helping owners overcome everything from pulling and poor recall to severe reactivity and complex behavioural challenges.

Anthony is the author of Reactive to Regulated and the creator of The Calm Dog Framework, a behaviour-based approach that places emotional regulation, relationship and long-term behavioural wellbeing at the centre of training.

His focus isn’t simply teaching dogs what to do. It’s helping owners understand why their dogs behave the way they do, creating lasting change that continues long after the class has finished.

Frequently Asked Questions

My dog is friendly but gets over-excited. Can we still attend?

Absolutely. Many dogs attending the classes are friendly but struggle with excitement, frustration or impulse control. The structured environment allows them to practise calmer responses safely.

Will my dog be expected to interact with the other dogs?

No. The aim is not for dogs to play together. The aim is for them to become comfortable and emotionally regulated in each other’s presence.

I've never attended training classes before. Is that okay?

Yes. The rolling syllabus means you can join at any stage, and every exercise can be adapted to suit your dog’s current ability.

How many dogs are in each class?

A maximum of six. This ensures every owner receives individual coaching while still providing valuable opportunities to work around other dogs.
